SAM DHOBHANY
BASS-BARITONE
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, bass-baritone SAM DHOBHANY is a rising operatic artist praised for his “resonant, full-bodied voice” and “impressive dynamic range.” A third-year artist with Houston Grand Opera’s Butler Studio and recipient of the 2024 Ana María Martínez Encouragement Award, Dhobhany drew acclaim for his portrayal of George in Carlisle Floyd’s Of Mice and Men, with critics highlighting the “heft of his singing and the sturdiness of his presence” (Texas Classical Review). His recent highlights include performances with Houston Grand Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and The Santa Fe Opera, as well as his Carnegie Hall debut as bass soloist in Handel’s Messiah. In the 2026/27 season, he returns to HGO in Faust, Die Zauberflöte, and Der Rosenkavalier.
